Research cost order
Research cost order
Most research is in cost order. Some items seem to be out of place though. Xeno engineering comes to mind. Quick fix, or more involved issue?

Re: Research cost order
If we wanted them to be strickly increasingly, it would be a pretty quick fix. Right now, there are really 2 reasons that a cheaper tech might be unlocked by a more expensive one:Chasm wrote:Most research is in cost order. Some items seem to be out of place though. 1) There's a racial discount in play, (as in Xeno engineering, which is much cheaper for humans than anyone else).
2) I thought it made sense to have some technologies that where actually relatively quick to figure out once the core theoretical breakthroughs had been made.
The costs need rebalancing, of course, but most of the time, when you see a tech that's actually cheaper than it's prerequisite, it is likely intentional.

Yes, having a high-cost 'theory' tech and then several cheaper 'application' techs seems like it makes a lot of sense.
