Would you upload your save? The AI shouldn't have accelerated research in normal games, but, it does have signifigant tech advantages on "Hard".

Yeah, I'm seeing too many missiles in my test playthroughs as well. It's effecting the tactical balance in troublesome ways -- PD weapons+boarding pods feel far too powerful right now, and I think that's partly because the build is a great counter to the AI's current design biases.

I'll take another look at AI ship designs later on today.

It does make building dedicated escort ships kind of a must.

Question though, to missile cruisers have a larger ammo supply than regular ships? just reading the science blurbs.

Atm, missile ships just have dedicated missile hardpoints, which give them more potential missile mounts than most ships. No extra storage capacity though.

I and up having a very slow empire compared to all the AI races.

I'm seeing this too. The AI is building ships at a frightening rate. It takes 6-8 turns to have a tech-current destroyer and the AI has 5-6 by the 30th turn, with troopships to spare. I can't image they expand much but I'm back to the old tactic of grabbing 3-4 good planets, go full defensive and pray the AI doesn't just toss everything at me.

Generally on normal mode, the rate of ships, quantity and speed outstrip mine 8 to 1.

As far as the resource management, I hated it until I got into it then I can't see it any differently. It works for SiS and does seem to play to the mineral resources a planet has.
