What precisely do 'Imperialist', 'Isolationist', and 'Survivalist' mean?

I've seen how the other personality traits for AIs generate issues influencing relations with other empires, but I have not seen what the effects of Imperialist, Isolationist, or Survivalist are. Any insight available? The question was refreshed in my mind by seeing the Tinkers are 'Imperialists' like the Ashdar Empire... and I'm still not sure what that actually means, or why other races aren't 'imperialist'.

Maybe imperialist trait means their AI is more likely to expand, and when it comes to diplomacy they like the faction with the strongest military power best.

Reacting well to military strength and poorly to military weakness is specifically an issue from 'Aggressive'. I'm not asking for speculation, here, I'm asking for hard information.

As far as I'm aware, the keywords don't do anything.
I put the keywords into the diplomatic UI mockups, having in mind that the attributes themselves would govern AI behavior to some extent. Sven faithfully implemented them into the display, but as far as I'm aware, they don't directly affect AI behavior.

Fair enough. I suppose those three are the ones without attached issues.
