Coilguns and Railguns

It's my understanding that Railgun is using the same principals as Coilgun, but it doesn't have the SP feature. I guess it's done to not make it a uberweapon, but it makes it useless (way less effective than Coilguns) instead. The common sense would ask for an upgraded SP weapon. May be make Railguns a bit less powerful, but give it SP?

You're right -- railguns really ought to have SP. Also -- our intent is for the tier 3+ shields to have a special that makes them work against kinetic weapons.
The higher level weapon balance remains a work in progress, but, making the kinetic SP behaviors more consistent would be a pretty simple change. Maybe I'll be able to get that one done later on today, while I'm fixing that shield regenerator bug.
