suggestion of new functionality for shipyards, paralell build.

What I am requesting is that for smaller ships the shipyard builds a copy of it, 2-3 for destroyers, maybe 2 for cruisers.

So a double shipyard system would get 4-6 destroyers per run and if cruisers get the buff maybe 4.

you would still have the cheaper to build ships buff, but it would be explaned that you got it via buying in bulk.

So you could manually queue up four destroyers and instead of producing one at a time they would hold final production until the job completes?

Something like sending in a build order for x amount of ships? Then maybe a button to have it "finish" once the total job is complete rather than as each individual ship is complete?

Or are you just asking for the normal job to produce multiples of destroyers/frigates when there are two Shipyards in orbit?

I don't see any advantage to producing 4 destroyers at once in 20 turns, as opposed to queuing 4 destroyers and having one produced every 5 turns.

You could make ships produced in parallel cheaper, but I don't see a pressing need in the game currently for mass production of smaller ships, or why that might be a good thing to incentivize.

If I have multiple shipyards in space it does not make sense that I only get one ship out of it. And sometimes I need swarms of things.

I get that, but realism aside, I don't see any gameplay advantage to producing ships in parallel instead of producing them serially that would justify the effort and added complexity of adding a parallel production queue. You're actually better off producing one destroyer every 5 turns than producing 4 destroyers at once in 20 turns. If you're attacked on turn 18, in the former case you'll have 3 destroyers; in the latter case you'll have nothing.

I don't think a second shipyard actually adds that much to your production output. Their main purpose is to have an infrastructure requirement for building larger ships.
