Pre-Order Beta access instant?

Hello, do you get beta access instantly or do you need to wait for date XY. I am asking this because on explorminate they said it's instant but on the pre-order site it just says beta access with no definite time measure.

When you pre-order, you will be given closed beta access almost immediately. It's not exactly "instant," because it's a manual process rather than an automatic one (if you were to pre-order today, you wouldn't get access until Sven processes your order sometimes next week, because he's currently traveling), but there isn't a waiting period or anything like that.

As a general rule: If you have preordered, and do want to join the closed beta, but you haven't gotten a download link from me within a day or so-- please send me a follow up email and/or forum PM. I'm still tweaking the back-end systems used for beta registration, and if you're waiting on an invite for more than 24 hours -- there's a good chance that I've made a mistake in entering you into the system. Those sorts of mistakes are easy to fix, but, I don't always catch them immediately.

We're not on steam -- the beta distribution is just a download from our server.

I'd like to, certainly. But, we've yet to talk to anyone at Valve, and so at this point, I can't promise that the game eventually will be on Steam.

As of July 6th, the preorder system does include an auto-registration hook. So, assuming all my server code is working as intended, preordering should now instantly get you a beta download link.
