Yeah, it's a known issue. Not a high priority one, but, it's on the list.

These are technically bugs -- and reporting them when you notice them is useful. I know the close/dismiss buttons in the "Welcome to Beta", Pirate/Maurauder encounter screens have this issue. But, I can't find the one you're referring to in the technology screen. Which button, exactly, has the undersized hit-box?

The check marks, and also the "move" button on the fleet panel.

Ah, yes. The check marks are part of a temporary interface slated to be upgraded soon -- Arioch has some improved mockups that are on my list of things to implement soonish. The move button is one I'd overlooked though -- it should be fixed in the next patch.

known issue -- the introduction of missile-heavy loadouts has made it much more likely that the AI will end up in a stalemate when resolving ai-vs-ai battles. should be fixed soon...
EDIT: Looking back, the autosave is a few turns before the Colony Ship was finished. Wait for it to finish and send it off to Toliman and I get the crash again.

Started a new game and got another crash. I went back to the atuosave and got it to repeat once, but the second time it didn't. The only thing I can think of that I did different is that I didn't include the Destroyers in my colonizing fleet and they wouldn't have had the range to get to the colony target, Denebola.

Also, I haven't been able to figure out how to name save files anything other than the default name or, sometimes, even create a new file.
My hunch is that this is an AMD texture management issue (your AMD Radeon HD 5-series is very much inside the range of cards known to be problematic). My shipment of test-hardware has finally arrived, so, there's a chance I'll be able to get this replicating over the weekend. Thanks for the reports.

I almost wonder if there's a graphics display glitch here... as the interface looks pretty clear on my monitor. If the screen is displaying properly, you should see a blinking text cursor at the end of default save name when you open the "Save Game" dialog. Typing (or hitting backspace) should let you edit the name. If the cursor isn't showing, left-clicking on the save game name should switch back into "text edit" mode.

I did find out how to do that eventually, but I was looking for a New Save File button or some such.

I get a bug with orange stars, where they turn blue. I don't get it with other color stars, or giant stars, just the K-types. Unless it's a Firefly shout-out, I think it's a bug.

EDIT: and it is orange to start with, but turns blue after a while. I haven't noticed a particular trigger. It'll happen sometimes when I'm just staring at the system.

Gyrfalcon wrote:EDIT: And let me know if you want me to stop posting crashes until you get some time to play with the ATI cards.
No -- by all means, please keep testing. I've just started playing around with some older Radeons, and I have a theory that one of the root issues here may be a failure to properly handle texture paging in multithreaded contexts. Um, if that's the case, there's a crude fix that ought to solve the issue -- I can just force single-threaded asset loads on AMD/ATI hardware. Said change is posted as of r11976 (marked 'stable'). Let me know if you're still seeing these crashes.
(Also the orange-star shader bug you noticed may also be fixed -- so let me know if you still see that one as well.)
Running the launcher to get the new build, I get this error, which seems to hang the launcher. The PLAY button is still grayed out after I dismiss the Exception, anyway.

It seems ok when I restart sis.exe, however, and play a few turns.
