Re: Some collected feedback over several games
Just wanted to chip in re: mopping up, when the game has gotten to the point where it is plainly clear that one faction has pretty much won, would it be possible to simply have the game skip the remaining turns of bombing the final few hostile planets into space dust and give the win right there ...

Re: First Impression Notes
I played about half to two-thirds of a game about a week ago, again as the Yoral except on hard difficulty. I wanted to see if the AI would do better, especially since in older versions of the game, the AI had insane bonuses across the board on hard, to the point where I wasn't even sure if it was ...

Re: Farming / Food Changes
I think the best way to handle this is just to build colony ships as empty by default. When the ship actually finishes building, have it load one unit of pop, of the same race it would have selected to contain under the old system, automatically. If it is unable to do so for any reason, such as ...

Re: Report - Current Bugs and Issues
Unsure if it's already been posted - I somehow scooped a million Enfi when I attacked the Gremak's homeworld into an old troopship. All that happened is the brigade of mechs formerly using that transport died and apparently the game shoved one unit of Enfi to take their place.

Re: First Impression Notes
I clear a system of pirates and suddenly from all directions colony ships are rushing in.
(Ai deemed nothing else settable and had a stockpile of colony ships floating around)
I did the work, I want to tell the AI to "fuck off"

Thanks for the feedback.

It's probably because we recently increased the cost of ground units and neglected to increase the cost of troopships as well ...

Re: First Impression Notes
Nercoing this old thread since I updated SiS and looked to give it another whirl now that diplomacy is in and things are moving closer towards the Steam EA.

More Notes
I gave SiS a whirl tonight after a few months, to see how ground combat works now among other things. I haven't played since shortly after resources became a thing, so there was a bit of a learning curve involved:
Using the 64-bit .exe gave me zero issues whatsoever, where with the 32-bit I'd have ...

Re: Are humans now impossable to play?
I haven't played as the humans since pre-metal/food, but they're probably still bound more or less by the same constraints as before. The biggest one is easily luck - if you start in a corner with no good habitable worlds at the start, the game's pretty much over. Conversely, if you get some awesome ...

Re: Suggest - Features and Improvements
Sadly true. I need to nerf the AIs ship production. (In an earlier build, they were very confused by food and metal, and not doing much of anything. So I let them cheat around those 2 resources, and now they're just way too strong.)
Was thinking about a bit about this problem from the Bugs thread ...

Re: First Impression Notes
You can, however, use Stockpile to save up production until the metal is ready.
I did this a lot when my factory worlds weren't doing anything else. It enables you to build fleets on demand when you need them without having to pay maintenance or worry about your metal stockpile as much.

Re: Suggest - Features and Improvements
These changes definitely get a thumbs-up from me as well. I'd also perhaps include a 'turn summary' feature in battle, as a means of reviewing what happened during the previous combat round in case the player misses something important or wants clarification on their turn.

Resurrecting this thread for the new patch. I took a look at the new resource system as the Phidi, the only race I didn't get to earlier on. Here we go!

I'll definitely take a look at the new system when I have a chance to. Good to see things are still moving ahead!
