Re: Stellaris
Maybe they're based on the Gremak, OR maybe they just heard about the Mongols. 'Great Khan' is indicative of that influence. Or maybe they watched Game of Thrones and wanted something like the Dothraki tribes (which, in turn, are based directly on the Mongols, but some people find fiction more ...

Re: Suggest - Features and Improvements
When space gets really busy with lots of fleets flying around, and you have the tech to see a ton of them, it's really really hard to see the things that matter. Suggest there be some keystroke or something when you're hovering over a system to only see the fleets approaching that system.

Re: Next DLC
I suspect because of the limited company size and backlog of features, they don't actually need help directing their next DLC - they probably have three years of content at their current development rate already on their plate.

Re: Lore Speculation: the Arda Seed and the Great War
But the ancient stargate (i.e. the kind they could make back when their tech was higher) doesn't require a stargate at the target system

Re: Lore Speculation: the Arda Seed and the Great War
I got the impression that the Great War was a *long* time ago, and the races were well and truly savaged by it, so I'd expect that their records from the Great War would be spotty at best, if they even exist. Like the Ashdar were probably one race during the war, and only became Teros and Haidur ...

Re: I can consistently crash the game so I need to reboot to play again
Well, going to option 4 seemed to buy me another 100 turns or so (or maybe that was just "the graphics card cooled off overnight"?) before meeting the same inevitable fate. Thanks for all the help, but appears I just got a lemon in the ol' "gaming laptop" department.
I have a theory that the reason ...

Re: Research tips to increase your range?
as mentioned in the other thread, you can use outposts to extend your range.
as for technology, all the 'range increasing' technology is in the Physics section.
note also you can use 'warp lane amplifiers' in your ships to make them be able to fly a good distance past your dotted range (this comes ...

Re: What good is an Outpost?
it's significantly cheaper than a colony, so you can use it to claim planets until you can afford colony ships (or to claim planets you can't colonize yet because you need technology to settle there, such as barren worlds)
it extends your 'range', so you can put an outpost in a system with no ...

Re: I can consistently crash the game so I need to reboot to play again
so, to summarize:
----------64----32
intel------1-----2
nvidia----3-----4
1 crash to dbghelp.dll too old, molasses UI
2 crash to dbghelp.dll too old (out of texture memory)
3 mystery freeze (probably texture related but in a way my video card doesn't crash properly for)
4 the last one we haven't ...

Re: Report - Current Bugs and Issues
Go to a Tinker planet that is near, but not at, maximum population ("nearness" to maximum isn't necessary to reproduce, but it will make reproduction much less tedious)
Set production to "manufacture population".
Queue up "trade" (or "research" or "mining," or really anything).

Re: I can consistently crash the game so I need to reboot to play again
Until about 12 turns later when I hit "new turn" and it broke again, but this time it crashed "properly"
Which is to say, it stopped responding, but when I hit Control-Alt-Delete, I was able to find that there was a new "SiS Crash Hanlder" window which just said "DBGHELP.DLL too old". But when I hit ...

Re: I can consistently crash the game so I need to reboot to play again
Well, yes, sis.exe (as opposed to sis64.exe) does run, and even though it's using the Intel card, it's not having "molasses UI" issues. and it did let me advance through the next few turns. So I can play, hooray

Re: I can consistently crash my computer
Back in September I reported issues with my graphics ( http://stars-in-shadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=581&p=6473#p6473 ).
I haven't had any issues I could directly relate to my graphics card since then.
I have "simplified graphics" turned in SiS, but my computer does occasionally throw ...

Re: I can consistently crash my computer
Steam verifies the integrity of Stars in Shadow, as for game mode:

It seemed like the thing to do since Avast auto-detected all the other games. Avast didn't block it, but didn't auto-add it, either.
Avast seems really keen on trying to upsell me to their extra-fancy edition. I ...
