Does clearing out a Hyperspace Anomaly 'do' anything for us currently?

I just won my first victory against the forces around a HSA, and there doesn't seem to be any associated event for that. Is it intended that there be some benefit from clearing out a HSA, or is it just a massive battle for no real practical benefit? Or is it just that whatever rewards are supposed to be available just aren't implemented yet?
