I've become suspicious that there's a fullscreen-mode optimization in some of the newer opengl drivers (most specifically AMDs latest drivers) that's causing a very rare (and very difficult to replicate) crash/freeze.

If I'm right in my hunch that this crash is due to an optimization tied specifically to fullscreen window styles, then there may be a way to work around the issue. You can test my candidate workaround by running the game with the '-fullscreen_border' command line option (i.e., an 'advanced launch option in Steam'). If the option is working correctly, you'll see a very thin border around the edge of the screen while running in fullscreen mode.

Could those of you experiencing occasional crashes, particularly if you're on a newer AMD driver version, try running with this option, and let me know if the crashes persist or appear to go away?

I'll try that tonight and let you know.

By the way, when will you start testing Legacies and how do we get in?

45 minutes last night, no issues. So far, so good.
