Re: DLC rebalance mod
There's still an old direct-download server dating back to the days when we sold the game via our website. You can't buy access to that distro anymore, but, long-time users (like Chasm) still have a copy. These days, we use it for testing bleeding-edge features -- thus, I've started calling it the 'dev server'. If you're a Steam user, you can get access to the same content by using the password 'alphatesting' in the BETA opt-in menu (under game properties).siyoa wrote:how one gets access to dev server ?

DLCSteamAssets, updates to latest release version. New game likely needed.

DLCSteamRules, updates to latest release version. New game likely needed.
Had alot of trouble getting a good upload. Please let me know if either one has any issues on the download.

DLCSteamRules
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RtBHM ... ZdkI0eqL-t
SLCSteamAssets
Build updated for the 3/21 patch
Added scatterpack missile variant (fusion, antimatter, EMP, leech)
Modified missile tech tree somewhat (no more free antimissile tech, EMP warhead cost reduced )
Leech warheads improved
Added in Pulse cannon (heavy mount anti shield weapon)
Should be no issues with prior version saves, though a new game is advised.

Re: DLC rebalance mod
I forget which one to use for the DLC version with testing enabled.
Re: DLC rebalance mod
I only am sure the current version will work, the one with Omni on it was posted in error a while ago , and at this point would just crash the game.

Re: DLC rebalance mod
Would the 'unzip into Mods folder' strategy still works with this mod? Just making sure here.

To use:
Unzip both folders with their file structure intact into
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Stars in Shadow\Mods
(that is the default, if you changed the location, you will need to track it down)
This will work without issue with other mods (so long as there is no overlap)
Full weapon rework, some systems tweaked, tech tree tweaks, race tweaks, hardpoint rebalance, ship tweaks/reworks, planet defense buff, race leader tweaks, rebalance on orbitals to make them a bit better, and to standardize their costs, native race tweaks.
Credit to Akkamaddi for useful viscids idea and baseline stats.
This mod is meant for the latest steam release version.
Additional changes will be noted as you go through this post as the mod has evolved and expanded.

Re: DLC rebalance mod
Pretty cool. Is there a spreadsheet or a summary of the balance changes anywhere? I'm curious about your approach to rebalancing shield regeneration rates, in particular.
Re: DLC rebalance mod
Did not touch shield regen rates, weapon damage was boosted enough to make them a non issue imo. Basic evolution of the mod can be seen on the steam SiS forum entry. Oddly enough, making assault shuttles build empty has been far more of a game changer then I thought it would be.

DLCRules
Rules change only, assets is unchanged.
Armor rework, ship and starbase armor costs reduced (in both hammers and metal), defensive value increased to be competitive with same tier shields.
Transporter modification.
Gunboats added (strike fighter variant)
Small text corrections for descriptions.

Re: DLC rebalance mod
I'm going to give this a play and see what I think. First glance suggests a lot of changes - more than a rebalance mod would suggest! Normally I'm against huge mods. But I'll give it a go because I do think weapon balance rather seriously needs a look at for me to keep enjoying the game.
