Turbolasers

The implication is that turbolasers are supposed to have a shield-piercing attribute. But I've done a lot of testing, and I can't find any evidence of this. Is this a bug, or is the description for turbolasers out of date with the mechnaics?

(I don't think turbolasers need shield-piercing; they are strong enough already!)

Wait, they do? I don't remember seeing this. Turbolasers are already one of the best weapons in the game already, they need to get even BETTER?

There are a number of weapons that have extra ability-ish verbiage in their descriptions. I assumed that anything that didn't show up as an actual ability (like SP, AP, LR, etc.) was simply for flavor, but the quote in that Steam thread in the original post made me wonder if there were several things that were in the game but not directly communicated.

Never seen any hull damage unless the shields (any shields) are down. But once the facing shield is down and you have armor pierce, it practically melts ships.
Now the Force beams, those pierce shields as do Mass Drivers.
