A question about force beams

Postby Chasm » Tue Jan 17, 2017 4:06 pm

Currently force beams are piercing through force fields. Is this a 100% pierce or a 50 % pierce? I can't really test this, but if it is 100% it should likely be reduced to 50% (justification: force fields is a 3000 point tech, force lances only 2000). Force lances were already one of my preferred weapons, they really didn't need more buffing :)

Hrm, the lore suggested 100%, so that's what it's set at atm. But, I do see your point... Force lances either need to be more expensive, or they need to have a weaker pierce. One of the two...

Or just make force fields a requirement to research them, instead of railguns? At that point you can keep the cost as is, and railguns an endpoint.

Hrm, maybe force fields instead of antimatter? Lore wise, I think we want the force lance to represent a fusion between high level kinetic and physics research. (This change will be in the next patch, unless someone talks me out of it in the next few minutes ;))

Makes sense to me. Creating force fields allows for... well, creating 'solid force', then the force lance is weaponising the same principle.

Makes sense to me. I'm for the change.
