Hey guys! Any update to the ETA on the implementation of diplomacy? Just curious and excited to try it out!

The new UIs Arioch mocked-up are all now pretty much implemented. But there's still a fair amount of work left to do populating the new systems with appropriate content. I'm hoping to fill in many of the bigger gaps over the weekend, but when exactly we'll have a draft we're ready to share with the beta testers remains uncertain. I'd say "soon"? Let's go with "soon" ;)

I think we're about a week behind our month-end diplomacy milestone. Glitok has agreed to handle the complaints department.

I'm beginning to lose faith I'll ever see this thing ;)

All joking aside, I guess I'll just stop asking, since every ETA you guys have given has come and gone, lol.

Work on diplomacy continues. We recently brought on a guy to do sound effects, and so Sven has had to spend some time on FMOD integration.

(Yes, Glitok's back looks suspiciously like Yunki at present.)

+1

looking forward to diplomacy being added to the beta - in it's current state I think it plays pretty well but is pretty one dimensional/combat focused

These purple hands, how do they work?
Are they a limiter of a total size of the deal (like in SD2), are they a replenishable to the cap resource (like in SR2) or are they just a usual non-capped resource (like in EL)?
Do slaves reproduce while you own them and if they do, do you retain the surplus population?

Influence (purple handshake icon) is a diplomatic resource earned through trade and diplomatic interaction and can be spent to secure favorable deals. It's not capped.

We're still working out the mechanics for slaves. I think that slaves will probably not reproduce, for simplicity's sake. If they did, I think it would make sense that the offspring would also be slaves.

That would mean a limited amount of, say, Enpi in the galaxy, would it not? (Not that currently there's much point to them.)

We'll have to play it and see how it works out. The slave mechanics are not yet set.

Is there anything particularly good about the Enpi?
There are some good "secondary" races in SiS, but still inferior to one of the "primary" ones.

The Enfi are deliberately unremarkable except for their slave status. In terms of regular productivity stats, slaves are inferior to free workers. The advantage is that you can do things with them that you can't do with free population, and the Gremak in particular can "spend" them in inventive and devious ways. But these mechanics are still being worked out.
