Now that the Space Station is an Outpost variant, it's impossible to design a variant Space Station. Making a new design based on Outpost won't allow me to place anything but a Fuel Depot on the Station hardpoint, nor does it allow me to rename the design, so I end up with two Outposts on the desig...

The basic space station is meant to be a minimal civilian installation. The armed battle station is appropriately larger and more expensive. We could add a smaller dedicated space combat platform (such as a Defense Satellite) as a stopgap, but right now I think the ground base fills that role adequa...

It depends on the publisher. In this case for us it's all upside. We'll still be here talking to you, we'll still be developing in the same way, and we'll still be in control of the property. The only difference is that we'll have the resources to work full time, do proper QA and marketing.

As part of the population morale mechaic, there will be an explicit state of enslavement, with special characteristics to represent both the advantages and disadvantages of using slaves.

Turbolasers eventually lead to Primary Beams, so it's not exactly a dead end; but the choice is whether to invest in cheaper and more incremental laser upgrades, or to take a bigger plunge into ion beams.
