I've played a little bit as Ashdar Colonials now, and (luckily?) got into an early war with the Gremak. Hm. I guess I may have been discounting the value of fighters; I just kindof assumed they'd fly into PD range and then die, as that's what tends to happen when the AI uses fighters against me.
