With the new patch, I started up a new game as the Yoral this time (in 13662, this was before I noticed 13665 was out to hotfix bombers). I decided to try out the new limpets + boarding combo and coilguns, with missile spam in case all hell breaks loose:

Re: Can we do somthing with all this excess power?
One way to possibly solve this would be to have reactors give a flat amount of power + power based on the size of the hull in which they are installed.
For example, a nuclear reactor may provide 5 + (10 * hullsize). On a scout cruiser frame, hullsize could be 1, thus you get 15 power. On a ...

Re: First Impression Notes
Spent a little more time playing today, this time as the Humans:
Humanity is pretty interesting to play. However, your ability to do well with them is entirely dependent on what sort of start you roll. If you roll a start in a galactic corner with nothing but red dwarfs and pirates nearby, you ...

Re: First Impression Notes
Hmm. Okay.
Few more observations:
As the Haidur, I found that once I had a critical mass of ships, I was effectively invincible due to the star gate unique tech. The AI would never engage whenever I had the upper hand, which means as long as I can scare them off the first time, I can scare them ...

Re: First Impression Notes
Thanks for the feedback. We have a number of solutions already in the works to address most of the items you mentioned.
I'm glad that you seem to be enjoying the game despite its rough state.
I'll keep adding onto this as time goes on. It also helps to establish a sort of baseline as far as ...

Couple more things from playing today:
Fighters are great, until their target dies while they are travelling towards it. Watching the fighter blob immediately turn around and return to the carrier hurts, especially when their damage would've won the battle.

Re: Report - Current Bugs and Issues
According to the update utility, my display drivers can't be updated to the newer generic version as they've originally been customized by the manufacturer (Dell in this case).

First Impression Notes
I'm going to dump all my gameplay-related observations from my time playing the game here, so it's likely to be edited and expanded as time goes on, so here we go.
The basic UI elements took a couple minutes for me to get used to, mainly as there's no 'ok' or 'cancel' buttons. There were a ...

Re: Report - Current Bugs and Issues
That said, I just took another look at your logs, and if I'm reading these right, you're using a fairly old version of the HD 4000 driver. Could you try updating it, and see if that avoids the crash? (I'd suggest using either the official Intel driver update utility , or checking your laptop ...

Re: Report - Current Bugs and Issues
Interesting. If you run it now, without admin privileges, does it still work? (There's a chance that the crash-on-launch may be something that only happens, sometimes, the first time the game runs after a clean install. Frustratingly, we have a number of Intel HD 4000s in the beta, but, reports of ...

Re: Report - Current Bugs and Issues
Upon first execution of the game .exe, I was awarded with a large crash.dmp file, found here . Appears to be the same issue Sven outlined in the video card bugs thread, as I have an Intel HD 4000 integrated card in my laptop.
