Missiles were overpowered for a long time, and at the moment they're a bit underpowered. The pendulum will swing again as we do balance passes.
Fighters have always been a little underpowered, and that's something we'll address. The different fighter types are kind of half-implemented.

Re: NICE
Eventually, the ability to move a population may depend on its having a minimum morale. So Scavengers and Gaiads will probably be unmovable, and you'll need to deal with them in other ways.

Re: Game start races
Allow Duplicate Factions could be a linked map option. It wouldn't be "canon," but then neither is manually selecting duplicate factions.

Re: Traders and pirates and scouts, O my
1. While submarine warfare is one model of commerce raiding, prior to the introduction of the submarine commerce raiding was HUGE part of the Age of Sail. So commerce raiding doesn't have to rely on stealth per see (though detection ranges in the Age of Sail were obviously much less than they are ...

Re: Traders and pirates and scouts, O my
Any capability you give to commerce raiders should be given to normal fleets as well. Normal fleets can't currently travel into enemy territory and then just hang out there in hyperspace; they have to go to a planet where they can be attacked by defending fleets. There's an argument to be made for ...

Re: Traders and pirates and scouts, O my
We're going to use those sorts of things to help manage the issue of fleets trying to bypass your front lines and attack the interior of your territory (a warp well in a system prevents fleets going past it to a certain radius, and an interdictor prevents an attacking fleet from retreating as long ...

Re: Traders and pirates and scouts, O my
The problem with conventional submarine warfare-like commerce raiding in this particular setting is that ships have no way to attack each other while in hyperspace, so convoys can't be intercepted en route. The only direct way to attack the enemy's shipping is to actually put a fleet in one of their ...

It's something we talked about and plan to do. Shouldn't be that hard.

Re: I just wonder how to play....
I think it's reasonable to keep a hint, just to help keep track of things, though it might make sense to use a more obvious hint than an asterisk, such as "(auto)" or the automate icon.
Than it should work correctly, which currently isn't the case.
That's obviously important too, but I'm more ...

Re: So, um, what's the status of this game?
Thanks for giving us a look! I'm sorry to hear that some folks are disappointed in new-MOO's early access; I hope you'll keep in mind that we are also still a little rough around the edges and still missing important features (notably diplomacy).

Re: Master of Orion is dead and being buried
As a fan, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will take some time in early access to improve things.
I don't have a philosophical objection to starlanes as many seem to (maybe it's traumatic memory of MOO3?), but then I haven't actually played it.

Re: Interceptors and Strike Fighters
The fighter characteristics are in flux, so I'm not sure exactly what's in the game right now, but whatever it is, it will probably change.
