Re: Distrubuted Production?

I agree that a planetary production queue is definitely a must-have, and is included in our plans. Being able to set rally points is also a pretty standard feature that should be relatively straightforward to implement. We would eventually like to have higher-level automation options (such as planet...

Re: Distrubuted Production?

Another way to do it is to have additional resource types, such as food and metals, and associated infrastructure (farms and mines), so that you can have specialized agricultural or mining colonies. You can also have special resources, similar to those in Civ III-V, that could make otherwise margina...

Re: Amusing bug

And here is a thought, it doesn't seem reasonable that you should run out of missiles before or at the same time as a ship does. You have a whole planet full of resources where you can stockpile e.a missiles. The logic as I see it is ships have a limited number of missiles before they have to resto...

Re: Distrubuted Production?

We definitely need a production queue of some sort.

Re: Right-click strategic move orders?

Most games these days have a dual mode: you can either left-click "Move" or "Attack" and left click on the target, or you can just right-click or right-click-drag on the target to implicitly move or attack. Some users like one, and some like the other, and they don't interfere wi...

Re: Missile swarms

The missiles do have a "flocking" sort of pattern, which is exaggerated at the moment and will eventually be toned down.

Fighters are also due for a number of changes.

Make sure you're on the "dev" build and not the "stable" build.

Disable "expanded tactical zooms" in the Options menu.

Re: Right-click strategic move orders?

right-click and hold on a destination, then release to execute the move can you think of a reason that, if a fleet is a selected, a right click and hold anywhere on the starmap shouldn't just switch into a move preview mode? that's no harder to implement than the "hold on destination" beh...

Re: Current State of the Beta: Feedback

A simple zoomed out mode would just look that much more like MOO2: smaller fleet and star icons with no planets. I don't think there's necessarily a need to limit the player's options in this mode; if you still have the same bottom pane, you still have access to all the same capabilities. The stars ...

Re: Right-click strategic move orders?

What I would suggest is that with a fleet selected, mouse-over on a valid move target should change the mouse cursor to something appropriate (possibly the spaceship icon, but for now anything will do). A single-right-click and release executes the move, and that's fine, but I think an additional mo...

Re: First Impression

A recent change allows destroyers to be fitted with missiles (which are currently a bit overpowered), so the Pirates just got a lot more deadly... it's now literally impossible for your starting Scouts and Colony Ships to escape from two or more pirate destroyers without being killed. This is obviou...

Re: Current State of the Beta: Feedback

I think that zoomed-in and zoomed-out modes for the strategic map would be "nice to have", the former to see more detail, and the latter to see a large scale overview (especially when maps get bigger), but I imagine myself returning to the normal zoom level for regular play. I'd also be in...
