Shipyards benefit of 70% or not?

On the test build the tech description says, "reduces production cost of starships and stations to 70% of their base cost."

The Shipyard planet build item says, "build large starships by +2 hull tiers." Says nothing about reducing production cost.

What do shipyards do exactly now?

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

New game as Orthin with r38511, 88 star, box shape map on hard. Started pretty much in the in the middle of the map.

AIs expanded aggressively. I had a reasonable size empire but was obviously worried that I couldn't defend everything with 4 AI neighboring empires. Didn't get many heavy cruisers ...

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

Had good relations and treaties with all but one of my neighbors. The Ashdar Colonials didn't have good relations with me for no reason I could determine.

This is probably working as intended -- Ashdar should have a strong anti-Gremak basis. In game, that basis will be reflected both in some ...

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

Started a new game using version 38109 on hard difficulty, 88 stars with the Gremak. Not finished it yet.

The early game was oddly peaceful. No early declarations of war. This made sense. The AI took planets fairly aggressively. Even one planet that I thought they couldn't take from the Arda. Had ...

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

On the AI fleets topic, when the AI goes on the attack their ships often don't arrive on the same turn. This then lets me defeat them in detail.

If the AI actually formed fleets. Also if the AI defended their empires instead of going across the map to an allies empire. Then they actually might ...

Re: New DLC

Like the concept art. The spiky thing on the bottom is the drive?

Hadn't thought about adding one more race versus the map size. Playing with more than largest map's default 88 stars isn't bad on my PC. Might be a problem on a really low end PC.

I'd also like one or two more map types. A map with ...

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

Completed a game started with r38093. Hard difficulty as the Phidi. Uploaded game_8268.

The AI expanded very aggressively. Allied in the late game with the humans and they started colonizing the lesser planets in my empire!

In the middle and late game, the AI was out researching me. The AI bonus ...

Re: Bug? Extreme delay & Fleet Can't Right-click(Path)

Fairly sure that I've run into issue #2 twice in the last few days. Couldn't figure out what caused but believe it did only occur after doing a bomb all.

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

Great to hear, will check out the dev stream as soon as I am done with the current game

Have you consdiered reducing also amount of trade routes a market provides based on staffing? I find that this is the most prominent factor in why the player can economy snowball (building 3 markets on a small ...

Dragar wrote:Maybe shift? There is certainly a way to box select.
Yes, found you can drag select using the shift key. You cannot have any ships selected before trying to drag select or nothing will happen. Guess I was expecting it to work more like Window's drag select.

Re: Suggestion - Game start with pre-explored

I like advanced start being an option in 4x games. Usually helps the AI and also saves some time.

However, I wouldn't give it a high priority. A more competitive, less cheaty AI would be more significant.

Double-clicking to select ships. Not having a drag select. No select all ships key
I can select ships with single-click: are you sure you need to double click on them (that should select all ships of that type and movement points left)?
You can drag select by holding down CTRL
No select all ...

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

I definitely enjoy large SiS battles. The turn-off to large battles is the user interface. Double-clicking to select ships. Not having a drag select. No select all ships key.

When you have a large number of ships in a battle, also their starting layout is always frustrating. Your smallest ships way ...

Re: Testing Economic Balance Changes

Didn't realize that hard difficulty had been made easier and that brutal was the new hard.

Think it would be better if there was a game creation setting for AI smarts and another for the AI getting free resources. Allow people finer control of their difficulty.
