Would saving them from Genocide be a factor to a life long ally?
I'm not sure how the game would recognize being saved from genocide. The AI may even have trouble recognizing that it is losing a war. But agreeing to intervene in a war started by someone else should pay big diplomatic dividends ...

With more tech, I can imagine the difficulty of balance. Even games around for years have some balance issues. I'll do my best to tell you what I see past the explosions.

Carriers = auto win?

So I faced a carrier with, I believe, interceptors and it ended my 5 cruisers and 4 destroyers. I tried Defense Lasers and Turbo lasers, PD Ion beams and PD coil guns and I think I remember hitting -one- of them. The missiles I got here and there, but wow. I going to have to restart if I can't ...

I'm presuming, since this is Beta, the extra power, which I wondered about as well, is just to make sure we have one less thing to worry about for current game play. I haven't noticed any other power systems and the Nuclear to fusion just up like 200% or something.

I'm just thinking the abundance ...

Im smack against a planet and I cannot turn

Even smaller ships cannot just sit and spin. I've tried putting my mouse directly over the ships and they either fly straight ahead or turn 5 degrees turn going forward?

I have a feeling this ...

Mines would work in space, but they have to be directional. More like a shotgun and not a wide explosive.

There are also other types of mines.

ECM
Magnetic

I hear you, yet I'm still at odds with stock pile

if I have 10 ships at turn 100
each ship costs 1000
the planet can stock pile at 100 per turn
The planet can build at 100 units per turn too (I never checked to see if stockpile and building units are equal)

if at turn 100 I choose to attack but ...

When having Colony ship leave System A, I tried to get ships from System B to System A
The graphic of the Colony ship hovers almost over System A and it would not let me select the ships from System B to go to System A
Ships from System B could go anywhere else.
I could still click on System A ...

I like the light-hearted feel of what I've seen so far, which is a nod to the first game (the Psilons in particular are adorable). But I did cringe at the Mrrshan leader's "cat on a hot tin roof" quip. Humorous dialogue is fine, but English idioms and American pop-culture references totally kill ...

One aspect in the 4x games was the race interaction when the rubber hit the road.

I never liked the Moo2 diplomacy that would play out, every time, in this order

Alliance with race A:

Scenario 1
Race A asked you to go to war with Race B
You choose to war with Race B
Race A then made peace with ...
