Fun fact: AI factions will vote for the ally with the highest pop be it the player or another AI faction or even themselves.

Thus in order to get the votes of AI factions the player needs to be:
1. An ally of the faction
2. Have the highest population among all alliance members

Wouldn't the nobility be placing their offsprings within a confined space of palace walls which segregate and protect them from common larvae? Below error is displayed at the end of the turn - next turn cannot progress afterwards: no CTD or freeze, the turn processing just stops after ignore is selected

There is a cool way GC3 gets around turn times wonder if it could be applied here as well:

During AI turn processing, the player is left wondering around the strategic mapy and opening up status pages of planets and ships - just not issuing orders

Turn times are around 1:50 on a map with 170 star systems in mid game

Performance hit is not actually measerable on the system level, so it could lie in the complexity of the lagorithms that take that much time ot run their sequental course?

The best approach IMO is to give the player control over the matter with some kind of cost/benefit decision they can chew on.
