Re: Stars in Shadow Modding Support

1) I have the DLC. So, files I package will be +Legacies files. Obviously I am only packaging limited files. Would this be an issue? If so, I would I get a set of base game files? (I'm designing it to make it easy to merge the data into existing game files, with the explicit suggestion everyone do ...

Re: I can consistently crash the game so I need to reboot to play again

I have a theory that the reason I can play high-end 3D games all day and crash the card on 2D games has to do with 3D libraries being more careful about unloading textures they no longer need and making other graphics optimizations, it's probably at the level of some third-party library you're usin...

Re: I can consistently crash the game so I need to reboot to play again

My "logs" directory is pretty small, though (since I had just erased everything right before running the game), and the 'errors' file in it might even be from this very crash (the timestamp on the error looks like it might have been from 3-4 minutes before the crash, but it's hard to tell...

Re: I can consistently crash my computer

I have "simplified graphics" turned in SiS, but my computer does occasionally throw nvlddmkm.sys blue screens in other games. Hrm. Yes, this is a bad sign. If we know we can't entirely trust your video driver, then it becomes relatively easy to attribute rare / very strange crashes to a h...

Re: I can consistently crash my computer

Avast seems really keen on trying to upsell me to their extra-fancy edition. I don't like it, so I'm kinda hoping it's a problem so I have an excuse to replace it with another anti-viral :) I suppose it's *possible* that Avast is causing the bug. We could imagine, for example, that Avast's heuristi...

Re: I can consistently crash my computer

My guess is: you're gonna load it and hit "next turn" it's gonna work just fine, but since it freezes rather than crashes properly, I don't know how else to give feedback that might determine what's going on :( It does indeed work just fine for me when I hit next turn. However, it is inte...

Re: Error During Program Startup

Is there a way to fix this? This is almost certainly a case of a corrupt save game (probably created by a crash while the game was in the middle of an autosave). I suspect you can work around the issue by going into your Stars in Shadow/ install directory, and deleting SavedGames/autosave_1. (We've...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

Though i still get this message at the game menu. Many thanks for this screenshot. I've seen a spike in error reports similar to this one, but, without a sense of where it was happening, it was a hard one to figure out. (It's looking like the news post has just gotten too long to fit in a single te...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

I've uploaded the file with the link you sent. Can you confirm if it worked or not? Yup, I got it, many thanks. Did you have any luck with the hotfix_testing BETA branch? (From the dump file, it looks like the two of you are indeed effected by different versions of the same issue, so I would bet th...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

I also have an issue with the Tinker's Juggernaut specifically. I can design one without problems, I can build one, so far no issues. But when construction is finished and I select a Juggernaut hovering next to my planet, I get an instant crash. I would bet this is another version of the high-res t...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

Shared a 64bit exe crash dump file with that gmail account. Aha! I believe I've tracked down the bug. (Apparently, the character 'bold-J' has some unusual quirks when rendered at a high resolution). If you restart Steam, it should download a new version of the hotfix_testing BETA build (assuming yo...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

Shared a 64bit exe crash dump file with that gmail account. Ok, I'm starting to theorize that the crash might be in some way connected to the specific resolution that you're running the game at. I assume you've been running at 2560 x 1600? Would you try switching the game into windowed mode, and le...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

Shared a 64bit exe crash dump file with that gmail account. I've got it, many thanks. According to that dump file, the crash is happening inside the text rendering subsystem, when it tried to update the project complete text for Bied II. Why this is happening still confuses me; but, it's certainly ...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

I have made a dump file from the task manager, but it's 2GB big. Dump files will often get considerably smaller if you zip them; but it will still be a very large file (500mb+). The easiest way to transfer such large files is usually with a third-party cloud storage app, like dropbox. But, I'll pri...

Re: [Crash] Crashes building Tinker's Juggernaut

When the crash dialog comes up there are no options for a memory dump or anything. Just to close. Maybe those 3 events from my Windows app log will be useful? Thanks for all your help tracking this issue down. When the crash dialog comes up, can you open windows task manager (ctrl+shift+esc), and l...
